Sutra
मणिविचित्रपार्श्वो उपरि मूले च तुल्यविस्ताराः ।।१३।।
Meaning
 इनके पार्श्व मणियों से चित्र-विचित्र हैं तथा वे ऊपर, मध्य और मूल में समान विस्तारवाले हैं ।

भावार्थ

इन पर्वतों के पार्श्व भाग नाना प्रकार की मणियों से खचित हैं तथा वे ऊपर, मध्य और मूल में समान विस्तार वाले हैं। Reference:Tatwarth-Manjusha-Khand-1-तत्वार्थ-मंजूषा-खंड-१-Aryika-Shri-Vigyanmati-Mataji

English Meaning:

Studded with various jewels, the sides of these mountains are variegated and the mountains are of equal width at the foot, in the middle and at the top. Being studded with precious stones of different colours and lustre, the sides of these mountains are variegated. The words ‘upari’, etc., are intended to exclude unwanted shapes. ‘Ca’ is intended to include the middle. Questions and Answers: शङ्का -समाधान

Answer  इन पर्वतों के पार्श्वभाग नाना रंग और नाना प्रकार की प्रभा आदि गुणों से युक्त मणियों से विचित्र हैं। इसलिए ‘मणिविचित्रपार्वा ‘ पद सूत्र में दिया गया है। (सर्वा. ३९१ )’मणिविचित्रपार्वा:’ कहने से ये पर्वत अनादि काल से नाना प्रकार की मणियों से विचित्र पार्श्व भाग वाले हैं, यह जाना जाता है।

Answer सूत्र में अनिष्ट आकार का निराकरण करने के लिए ‘उपरि’ पद कहा गया है तथा मध्य भाग का समुच्चय करने के लिए ‘च’ शब्द का ग्रहण किया है अर्थात् इनके मूल में जो विस्तार है वही ऊपर और मध्य में है। (सर्वा. ३९१)
