Sutra
तन्मध्ये मेरु-नाभि-र्वृत्तो योजन-शत सहस्र- विष्कम्भो जम्बूद्वीपः ॥ ९॥
Meaning
(तन्मध्ये) उन सब द्वीप समुद्रों के बीच में (मेरुनाभि:) सुदर्शन मेरु है नाभि जिसकी ऐसा तथा (वृत्त:) थाली के समान गोल ( योजनशतसहस्रवि कम्भः) एक लाख योजन विस्तार वाला (जम्बूद्वीप) जम्बूद्वीप (अस्ति) है।

भावार्थ

 सभी द्वीप- समुद्रों के मध्य मेरु रूपी नाभि से युक्त एक लाख योजन विस्तार वाला जम्बूद्वीप है।Reference-Tatwarth-Manjusha-Khand-1-तत्वार्थ-मंजूषा-खंड-१-Aryika-Shri-Vigyanmati-Mataji

English Meaning:

In the middle of these means in the middle of the concentric oceans and continents mentioned already. Mount Meru is in the centre of Jambudvipa, like the navel in the body. In the centre of which is Mount Meru, which is round like the disc of the sun, and which is one hundred thousand yojana in diameter, is Jambūdvīpa. Why is it called Jambūdvīpa? It is called Jambūdvīpa because it has the ‘Jambū’ tree as its distinguishing mark. In the Uttarakuru region of Jambūdvīpa there is this ‘Jambū’ tree, beginningless and eternal, made of earth, uncreated, and surrounded by its satellite trees. Questions and Answers: शङ्का -समाधान

Answer जम्बूद्वीप के प्रदेश संस्थान विष्कम्भों का कथन करना चाहिए क्योंकि सर्व द्वीपसमुद्र के कथन का आधार जम्बूद्वीप का कथन है । इस प्रकार प्रश्न होने पर उसके उत्तर रूप में यह सूत्र कहा गया है। (रा.वा. ९ उत्था.) पहले जम्बूद्वीप का आकार और विस्तार कहना चाहिए, क्योंकि दूसरे द्वीप- समुद्रों का विस्तार आदि तन्मूलक है इसलिए यह सूत्र कहा गया है ।

Answer जम्बूद्वीप का क्षेत्रफल सात अरब, नब्बे करोड़, छप्पन लाख, चौरानवे हजार, एक सौ पचास (७,९०,५६,९४, १५० ) योजन प्रमाण है। इसको निकालने के लिए परिधि को व्यास के चतुर्थांश से गुणा करना होता है।
