Sutra
नारका नित्याशुभतर लेश्या – परिणाम देह-
वेदना – विक्रियाः ॥३॥
Meaning
नारकी जीवों के सदा अशुभतर लेश्या, अशुभतर परिणाम, अशुभतर देह,अशुभतर वेदना और अशुभतर विक्रिया होती है।

भावार्थ

पहली और दूसरी पृथ्वी के नारकियों के कापोत लेश्या होती है, तीसरी में ऊपर के बिलों में कापोत और नीचे के बिलों में नील लेश्या होती है। चौथी में नील लेश्या ही है। पाँचवीं में ऊपर के बिलों में नील और नीचे के बिलों में कृष्ण लेश्या होती है। छठी में कृष्ण लेश्या ही है और सातवीं में परम कृष्ण लेश्या है। इस तरह नीचे-नीचे अधिक अधिक अशुभ लेश्या होती है। उनका स्पर्श, रस, गन्ध, वर्ण और शब्दों का परिणमन भी वहाँ के क्षेत्र की विशेषता के निमित्त से अति दुःख का ही कारण होता है। उनका शरीर भी अत्यंत अशुभ होता है। हुडक संस्थान के होने से देखने में बड़ा भयंकर लगता है। पहली पृथ्वी के अंतिम पटल में नारकियों के शरीर की ऊँचाई सात धनुष, तीन हाथ, छः अंगुल होती है। नीचे नीचे प्रत्येक पृथ्वी में दूनी दूनी ऊंचाई होती जाती है। इस तरह सातवें नरक में पाँच सौ धनुष ऊंचाई होती है तथा शीत उष्ण की भयंकर वेदना भी है। पहली से लेकर चौथी पृथ्वी तक सब बिल गर्म ही हैं। पाँचवीं में ऊपर के दो लाख बिल गर्म हैं और नीचे के एक लाख बिल ठंडे हैं। छठी और सातवीं के बिल भयंकर ठंडे ही हैं। ये नारकी विक्रिया भी बुरी से बुरी ही करते हैं

English Meaning:

In the first and second earth layers, the hell-beings have Kapota (grey/dark) leshya. In the third earth, the upper pits have Kapota leshya and the lower pits have Neela (blue) leshya. In the fourth earth, only Neela leshya exists. In the fifth earth, the upper pits have Neela leshya and the lower pits have Krishna (black) leshya. In the sixth earth, only Krishna leshya exists, and in the seventh earth there is Param Krishna (deep black) leshya. Thus, as one goes lower and lower, the leshya becomes increasingly more inauspicious.Their touch, taste, smell, color, and sound also transform in such a way, due to the special conditions of those regions, that they become causes of extreme suffering. Their bodies are also extremely inauspicious. Because of having the Hudaka (distorted) body structure, they appear very terrifying to look at. In the last level of the first earth, the height of the bodies of the hell-beings is seven dhanush, three hands, and six fingers. As one goes downward, in each earth the height becomes double and double. Thus, in the seventh hell, the height becomes five hundred dhanush. There is also terrible suffering due to extreme cold and heat. From the first to the fourth earth, all pits are hot. In the fifth earth, the upper two lakh pits are hot and the lower one lakh pits are cold. The pits of the sixth and seventh earth are extremely cold. These hell-beings also perform the worst kinds of harmful and sinful activities (vikriya)

Answer:रत्नप्रभा पृथ्वी से लेकर पाँचवी पृथ्वी तक व्यासी लाख पच्चीस हजार बिल तो उष्ण (गरम) होते हैं तथा एक लाख पिचत्तर हजार बिल ठण्डे होते हैं।
